The Godly Father

Scriptural Reference: Deuteronomy 6:4-9

‘The “Godly” Father’ (also applicable to anyone [believers]) Deuteronomy 6:4-9

[Deuteronomy 6:3
So give ear, O Israel (church), and take care to do this; so that it may be well for you, and you may be greatly increased, As the Lord the God of your fathers has given you his word, in a land flowing with milk and honey.]

God wants us to “understand and obey His greatest commandment”

He spoke to the fathers (Gen 22:17 and Exodus 3:8)

How can we “become” a Godly father?

(What are the characteristics of a Godly Father?)

a. He knows God accordingly (biblical and personal) Verse 4

b. He relates to God properly.. Verse 5

c. He understand himself sincerely.. Verse 6

d. He relates to his family biblically.. Verse 7-9

If we allow God to make us “Godly”, we should have the blessings of the Godly father (followers):

• He’s a wise person, v.2, 3a

• He has good (‘long’) life, v.3b, Deut. 5:33(John 10)

• He prospers greatly, v.3c (Deut. 7:12..)

Conclusion:

Let US pray for JESUS to give us more GODLY fathers (or followers/Christians)!
